Roborovski Hamsters
Roborovski Hamsters
General
Roborovski hamsters are a social hamster and can be kept with a sibling, although males are known to reject a cage mate more often than females. Theoretically they can be kept in larger groups than 2 but you do run the rink of fights breaking out.
Roborovski hamsters are extremely well natured and rarely nip their owner, when agitated they will rather run away and hide instead of going on the attack. They have slightly longer legs making them run faster and therefore harder to handle than other breeds and many owners faced with an escaped roborovski know they have a hard job to catch them!

Apart from being extremely fast and lively, Roborovski hamsters can be timid. A roborovski is more susceptible to stress than other hamsters and can appear nervous before gaining the trust of the owner.
I also advise people to keep their hands low to the ground when handling them as they can wriggle out quite easily. Maybe even hold your hands over something soft for them to land on.
Housing
Roborovski hamsters are extremely small, and grow to be about arounf 4.5 cm when they are adults. Since Roborovski hamsters are so small, they may be difficult to contain in the traditional wire cages as they may sneak out!

It’s usually best to keep a Roborovski hamster in a glass/plastic cage or a wire cage that has extremely small gaps in between the wires.
